Kimberly Golden, MSW Intern

I believe we all innately have the inner strength and intuitive wisdom to overcome life’s challenges. There are times, however, it takes additional support from others to help us hone those skills to truly thrive. Emotions can feel overwhelming, but learning to bring awareness to your feelings and address them with empathy and compassion can empower you to live a healthy, productive, and rewarding life. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy where I help my clients explore complex emotions, build upon their own strengths, and create a “toolbox” of skills in order to create and maintain meaningful and positive changes.

My passion is in guiding children, adolescents and adults through a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, behavioral, and social challenges. I take a person-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy. I enjoy incorporating play, art, meditation, and mindfulness in sessions to help my clients build effective tools and skills to reach their therapeutic goals.

Currently, I am completing my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Georgia and expect to graduate with honors in May 2024. My graduate program experience has included working directly with children and families in the foster care system. Prior to my time at UGA, I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication from Kennesaw State University and worked in medical sales for over 10 years. I credit my past educational and career experiences for cultivating my passion for working with people, getting to know their unique stories, and offering support and guidance in challenging times.

I am a wife, a mother to a tween daughter, and a native Atlantan. In my free time, I love to cook, decorate, cheer on Atlanta United, and spend time outdoors with my family.
