Tess Toombs, MSW Intern

I am excited about working with children and helping them navigate the challenges of their emotional world. My journey in child development began with earning my Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development from Georgia Southern University, where I developed a deep understanding of how children grow, learn, and form relationships. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia, further expanding my knowledge and skills to better serve young clients and their families.

My hands-on experience spans working with children of all ages, from childcare centers to mentoring and tutoring middle school and high schoolers. I have also had the privilege of working with nonprofits that serve children and families navigating childhood cancer, which has deepened my understanding of resilience and hope. As a nanny, I've learned the importance of balancing fun and structure—I love being funny and silly with kids while also teaching them about boundaries, respect, and important life lessons. This blend of playfulness and guidance shapes my therapeutic approach.

I am dedicated to creating a warm, nurturing space where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and processing difficult emotions. Whether a child is facing family changes, school challenges, or other life transitions, I am committed to meeting them where they are and helping them develop healthy coping strategies. I believe in the resilience of children and work to empower them with the emotional tools they need to navigate life's ups and downs with confidence.

When I'm not working with clients, I value maintaining a balanced lifestyle that keeps me grounded and energized. I cherish time spent with family and friends, stay active at the gym, and enjoy the excitement of attending sports games. This well-rounded approach to life helps me bring authenticity, energy, and genuine care to my work with children and families. I look forward to supporting your child on their journey toward emotional wellness and personal growth.
