Lauren Pilman, MSW Intern

I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy. As human beings, we naturally seek connection and understanding from others. I strive to create a space where my clients feel truly heard and understood. It’s essential to explore our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while becoming in tune with both our minds and bodies. Throughout life, we face pressures and challenges in relationships, work, school, family, and friendships. I provide a supportive environment where clients can explore these dynamics, heal, and build resilience. With resilience, we can not only survive but thrive, even when facing adversity.

My approach to therapy is person-centered, integrated, and holistic, blending psychodynamic principles with cognitive-behavioral therapy. I understand that effective approaches vary based on the individual and situation, and I enjoy exploring various therapeutic modalities to find the best fit for each client. Some techniques I utilize include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, and using play in therapy.

I am particularly passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults build resilience. Over the years, I have worked with children and adolescents in various settings. As a daycare teacher, program director for teens at a YMCA camp, and volunteer teaching youth in STEM, I have gained valuable insight into understanding the behaviors, emotions, and experiences of young people. Through these experiences, I’ve learned how to build trust and meaningful connections with children and adolescents. While life’s challenges are inevitable, I believe in empowering my clients with the tools and mindset to overcome adversity and grow from difficult experiences. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2023, and I’m currently in my final year of the Master of Social Work program at UGA. After graduation, I plan to obtain my LCSW and continue working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a therapeutic setting.

In my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, antique shopping, attending concerts, participating in trivia nights with friends, and spending time with my family and two dogs!
