Study Tips and Test Anxiety

We’ve all been there, the late-night last minute cram session before a big test. Studying shouldn’t feel stressful or draining, here are a few easy ways to build better study habits and stay calm during tests or exams.

1. Build a Routine

Have a regular study time helps your brain know when it’s time to focus. Pick a time that works best for you, if you are a morning or a night person make it part of your daily routine.

2. Study Zone

Find a quiet, distraction free space that is for studying only. Add your favorite snacks, pillows but no phones, TVs, or video games.

3. Organization

Get a planner, write down assignments, deadlines, and goals. Check them off as you get them done, staying on top of things helps reduce anxiety and last-minute stress.

4. Short Breaks

Your brain will need a break, schedule in small breaks, walk around, stretch and grab a snack. When you get done with your break you will feel refreshed and ready to focus again.

5. Study Methods

Make flashcards, re-write your notes, teach someone else the topic/ talk about it out loud, make a practice test. Break big topics into smaller ones to make them less intimidating and easier to learn and remember.

Remember, studying isn’t about perfection, its about progress. Find what works for you, stay consistent, and give yourself credit along the way. You’ve got this!!
