James earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan in 2025 as part of a specialized training cohort focused on supporting children and families in underserved urban communities. He approaches therapy from a relational, trauma-informed perspective and integrates principles from a wide range of evidence-based modalities, including Attachment Theory, Trauma-Informed Theory of Behavior, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Adventure Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. His integrative style allows him to meet clients where they are and tailor treatment to their unique needs, strengths, and goals.
James works with children, adults, couples, and families. He supports clients navigating concerns such as trauma, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, neurodiversity, life transitions, and complex family dynamics.
James brings a wide range of professional and life experience to the field of therapy, including military service, competitive participation in combat sports, teaching combat sports and martial arts, and working in public school settings. These experiences continue to inform his work by shaping his appreciation for discipline, resilience, growth, and the mind-body connection.
Outside of his professional work, James is married and a parent to a young child. He enjoys science fiction and fantasy media, running and facilitating tabletop roleplaying games, and training in various combat sports, including Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
