Lydia Gomez, MSW Intern
Dr. Robert Neimeyer observed, "Grief is choiceless but throws us into choices." Much of life resembles that paradox: while we often don't choose our difficulties, meaning and resilience can grow from our responses. Lydia supports children, adolescents, and adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship challenges, career stress, and other concerns. She helps clients cultivate hope, clarify what they want and need, and move forward with intention. As an MSW intern in her specialist year, Lydia has a background in education and volunteer work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults, including veterans and those experiencing grief and loss.
Lydia provides empathy and acceptance, believing that people can be themselves and thrive in a supportive and nonjudgmental atmosphere. She practices from a strengths-based perspective to help clients recognize what is already working and build from there. Lydia's style is respectful and focused on the importance of client goals, sometimes with humor and playfulness. Her approach integrates evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, drawing from CBT, DBT skills, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, play-based interventions, grief-informed care, and somatic awareness. She tailors therapy to each client's needs. Clients can expect a safe space to express emotions, tell their stories, discover more about themselves, strengthen coping skills, and carry their values forward with courage and self-compassion.
In her free time, Lydia enjoys relaxing with her family and various pets at home, exploring the city with family and friends, fostering connections in her community, and trying new recipes.
