Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP)

A Revolutionary Approach to Regulating Your Nervous System. C&A Counseling is proud to offer this evidence based treatment in conjunction with traditional therapy.

Dr. Stephen Porges developed the Polyvagal Theory, also known as "the science of feeling safe". SSP is a non-invasive application of Polyvagal Theory by resetting the nervous system through music. Through auditory intervention over a span of 5-10 days for 30-60 minutes a day, SSP has been proven to calm the nervous system, reduce stress, reduce anxiety, and lead to a calmer approach to life. The music you listen to during the protocol has been specifically designed to retune the nervous system (regulating state) to introduce a sense of safety and the ability to socially engage with others better. When a person is able to better regulate, therapeutic outcomes are more favorable. SSP is recommended as a supplement to talk therapy rather than a replacement.
